About Daily Word

Daily Word is a five-letter word-guessing game. You have six guesses to find the hidden word, and everyone plays the same word each day. After each guess the tiles change colour to show how close you are: green means the letter is correct and in the right place, yellow means the letter is in the word but in the wrong place, and grey means the letter is not in the word at all.

How to play

• Type any valid five-letter word and submit it as your first guess.
• Read the colours and use them to narrow down the answer.
• Keep guessing, reusing every clue, until you solve it or run out of tries.
• Come back tomorrow for a brand-new word.

Strategy tips

• Start strong: open with a word rich in common letters and vowels, such as one using A, E, R, S and T.
• Spend your second guess wisely: try five completely different letters to rule more out quickly.
• Keep your greens: lock in confirmed letters while you rearrange the rest.
• Watch for double letters — the answer can contain the same letter twice.
