How Our Quizzes & Tests Are Scored
All quizzes and tests on Get My Test Score give you instant results with a detailed breakdown. Here's exactly how scoring works for each type of assessment on the site.
Course Module Quizzes
Each course module ends with a quiz to test your understanding of the material:
| Detail | How It Works |
|---|---|
| Questions per quiz | 8 multiple-choice questions |
| Options per question | 4 options (one correct answer) |
| Pass mark | 75% (6 out of 8 correct) |
| Time limit | No time limit — take as long as you need |
| Retakes | Unlimited |
| Explanations | Every question has a detailed explanation shown after you submit |
Why 75%? A 75% pass mark is the industry standard for UK health and safety training courses. It ensures you have a solid understanding while allowing for one or two knowledge gaps that the explanations will help you fill.
Standalone Quizzes
Our fun quizzes (music, movies, general knowledge) are scored differently:
- Percentage score — the number of correct answers out of the total
- No pass or fail — they are for entertainment and learning
- Instant results — see your score as soon as you finish
- Answer review — see which questions you got right and wrong
- Leaderboard — if logged in, your score is saved and you can compete with other users
Cognitive Tests
Our cognitive assessments (IQ test, memory test, problem solving test, learning style test) each have their own scoring method:
IQ Test
- Score is calculated relative to the general population
- Average score is 100 with a standard deviation of 15
- Results include a score category (e.g. "Above Average", "Gifted")
Memory Test
- Measures short-term and visual memory performance
- Score is based on accuracy and the number of items correctly recalled
- Results show where you fall compared to typical ranges
Problem Solving Test
- Scored as a percentage of correct answers
- Results include a skill-level category and tips for improvement
Learning Style Test
- Not scored as right or wrong — there are no incorrect answers
- Calculates your preference across the four VARK styles (Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, Kinaesthetic)
- Shows your dominant style with personalised study recommendations
What Happens to Your Results?
- Saved to your profile — if you are logged in, all results are saved automatically
