# Sliding Puzzle

## About the Sliding Puzzle

The Sliding Puzzle is the classic tile game: numbered tiles sit in a grid with one space empty, and you slide them one at a time to put them back into order. It looks simple but takes real planning, because every move you make also disturbs tiles you have already placed. The goal is to solve it in as few moves as possible. It plays in your browser with no account or download.

## How to play

1. Tiles start shuffled, with one empty space in the grid.
2. Click a tile next to the empty space to slide it in.
3. Keep sliding tiles to arrange them in numerical order.
4. Finish with the tiles in sequence and the empty space in the corner.

## What it trains

Sliding puzzles build spatial reasoning, planning and patience. Because moves interact, you have to think several steps ahead and picture the board as it will be, not just as it is — a skill closely linked to problem-solving and working memory. It is a rewarding way to practise thinking before acting.

### Solving strategy

- Solve the top row first, then the left column, and work inwards.
- Once a section is correct, avoid disturbing it as you place the rest.
- Plan a short sequence of moves in your head before you start sliding.
- The final 2×2 corner is the trickiest — cycle those tiles carefully.
